Samsung is set to unveil its next flagship phones in just two weeks, but thanks to countless leaks we've already got a pretty good idea of what to expect. The Galaxy S20 is obviously on the cards, but Samsung is also set to reveal a second foldable phone, the Galaxy Z Flip. And thanks to a huge leak overnight, Samsung might not have many surprises left. German tech site WinFuture has not only published seemingly official renders of the Galaxy Z Flip, but complete specs too.
Much like the Galaxy Fold, the Galaxy Z Flip folds in half, but horizontally rather than vertically - in the same vein the reimagined Motorola RAZR. Instead of getting a smartphone-sized device that opens up to be a tablet, the flip phone inspired handset is a 6.7-inch smartphone that collapses down into a small square when it's not being used.
As with the RAZR, the Galaxy Z Flip has a display that's still visible when the phone is shut, but a much smaller one, measuring in at just 1.06-inches. For comparison, the RAZR's external display is 2.7-inches. It's expected that this screen will be used to show the time, battery life, and notifications.

Notably, the Galaxy Z Flip is tipped to be the first foldable smartphone with a glass display, which could help with durability. However, prolific leaker Max Weinbach says the screen will still have a plastic layer on top for additional scratch protection. Much like the Galaxy Fold, it seems like the Galaxy Z Flip will still have a slight gap between its halves when closed to avoid creasing the display. Technically the RAZR has an air gap when folded shut too, but this is hidden internally.
Key specifications for the Galaxy Z Flip include a 6.7-inch 1080p+, a Snapdragon 855+ processor, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of non-expandable storage, a 12MP primary and 12MP ultra-wide camera, and a 3,300mAh battery.
The Galaxy Z Flip will retail for USD$1,399 according to Weinbach, and could launch as early as February 14 in the United States. If accurate, that means the Galaxy Z Flip would not only undercut the Motorola RAZR (which retails for USD$1,499 internationally and $2,699) but potentially beat it to market locally. Major Samsung phones typically go on sale simultaneously across all major markets.
Of course, the Galaxy Fold launched later in Australia than it did overseas, so the Galaxy Z Flip release could go either way. We should know more about Australian pricing and availability on February 12.
