Samsung's thin-and-light new Galaxy S25 Edge is available to pre-order from today, ahead of a local release date of May 30.
The new Galaxy S25 family member starts at $1,849 outright, putting it right in between the Galaxy S25 Plus and Galaxy S25 Ultra in pricing. For context, the Galaxy S25 Plus starts at $1,699, while the Galaxy S25 Ultra's cheapest variant will set you back $2,149.
Anyone who pre-orders the Galaxy S25 Edge will get a free storage upgrade. This means getting the 512GB model for the price of the 256GB. The 512GB model normally costs $2,049. The phone is available outright from the usual suspects, but you'll also find the Galaxy S25 Edge on a plan at Telstra, Optus, and Vodafone.

A thinner and lighter form-factor is the Galaxy S25 Edge's main selling point; it has a width of 5.8mm and its thinnest point and weighs just 163 grams. For comparison, the similarly sized Galaxy S25 Plus is 7.3mm thick at its thinnest point, and weighs 190 grams.
Here are the two side-by-side:

Like the Galaxy S25 Plus, the Galaxy S25 Edge has a 6.7-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a Quad HD+ refresh rate. It's powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset paired with 12GB of RAM, and the usual premium fixings like wireless charging, eSIM, and IP68 water-resistance are all there. You also get the same software promise: seven years of software and security updates.
There are a few differences when compared to the rest of the Galaxy S25 family, however. The Galaxy S25 Edge only has a 3,900mAh battery. That's 100mAh smaller than the standard Galaxy S25 and 1,000mAh smaller than the Galaxy S25 Plus. Despite this, Samsung says the Galaxy S25 Edge will still get a full day per charge with "typical" usage.
The Galaxy S25 Edge also has fewer cameras, with just two lenses on the back. There's a 200MP primary lens - the same resolution as the Galaxy S25 Ultra - and a 12MP ultra-wide lens. Galaxy S25 Edge users miss out on a zoom lens. On the front, there's a 12MP selfie camera.
From a materials perspective, the Galaxy S25 Edge splits the difference between the Galaxy S25 Plus and Galaxy S25 Ultra. It has a titanium frame like the Ultra, but Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the back, like the Plus. The front display is protected by the new Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2. This isn't quite as durable as the Gorilla Glass Armor 2 found on the Galaxy S25 Ultra, and is rated for drops of 1m, compared to 2.2m for Armor 2.
The Galaxy S25 Edge is available in three colours: black, silver, and blue. Blue is exclusively available through Samsung's website.

In a media briefing ahead of the Galaxy S25 Edge's final reveal, Samsung Australia Head of Product Nathan Rigger said the phone is designed for a similar buyer to the foldable Galaxy Z Flip 6.
"Recently we've seen a little bit of a segment evolving within the smartphone market with people who aren't just looking for hardware-based features or AI-based features", said Rigger.
"People who are looking for form over function, but not necessarily without function."
Rigger says the reason people purchase a Galaxy Z Flip is very different to other phones in the Samsung portfolio, pointing to the compact and pocketable design, and that the Galaxy S25 Edge applies those same ideas to a more conventional form-factor.
