Coinciding with the launch of the Galaxy S20 series, Samsung has unveiled a new pair of wire-free earbuds: the Galaxy Buds+.
The most notable improvement over the original model is a greatly expanded battery life. Samsung says the Galaxy Buds+ can last up to 11 hours on a single charge, up from six hours on the original model. That's even better than the Powerbeats Pro, which are some of the most impressive wire-free earphones we've tested in terms of longevity. When combined with the charging case, the Galaxy Buds can get up to 22 hours of playback. In addition, Samsung says a three-minute charge will give up to an extra hour of play time.
Other new features include dual dynamic drivers for improved sound quality, more microphones for better phone calls, and a shortcut for launching Spotify on your phone. If you press and hold the left earbud, you'll instantly start listening to Spotify.
One feature you won't find on the Galaxy Buds+ is active noise-cancellation, as we've seen on alternatives like the AirPods Pro and Sony WF-1000XM3s. The Galaxy Buds+ are however $100 cheaper than both the aforementioned models. They will cost $299.
The Galaxy Buds+ are available now, in a choice of black, white, or blue. If you pre-order either a Galaxy S20+ or Galaxy S20 Ultra ahead of their release on March 6, you'll score a free pair - the only catch is they'll be in white.
