Samsung today took the wraps off its midrange phone line-up for 2022, confirming it plans to bring the Galaxy A73 5G, Galaxy A53 5G, Galaxy A33 5G, Galaxy A23 4G, and Galaxy A13 4G to Australia. The quint of new devices will be available across April, but at different times.
The Galaxy A53 5G is the first to launch, with pre-orders starting today ahead of an April 1 release date. It will set you back $699 outright, and is available on a plan through Telstra, Optus, Vodafone, and Woolworths Mobile. If you pre-order through most retailers, you'll get a pair of Galaxy Buds 2. Telstra is the one exception, where you'll get a pair of Galaxy Buds Live instead.
Here are the cheapest 24-month Galaxy A53 5G plans from every telco:
The entry-level Galaxy A13 4G and Galaxy A23 4G will also launch on April 1, but with no pre-order period. The Galaxy A13 4G will sell for $329 outright, and we understand that it will be available as a prepaid option (potentially at a discounted rate) via telcos. The Galaxy A23 4G is a little more expensive at $399, and will only be available outright.
Samsung also plans to bring 5G variants of the Galaxy A13 and Galaxy A23 to Australia later this year, but has yet to confirm pricing or availability.
Lastly, the Galaxy A33 5G and Galaxy A73 5G will launch on April 22, again, with no pre-order period. They'll sell for $599 and $799 outright respectively. Both will be available on a plan, but Optus won't be ranging the Galaxy A73 5G.

The Galaxy A33 5G, Galaxy A53 5G, and Galaxy A73 5G are all cut from a pretty similar cloth, and share a few key specifications. They all have 6GB of RAM with 128GB of expandable storage, they all have IP67 water-resistance, they all have a 5,000mAh battery with fast charging, and as the names suggest, they all have 5G.
There are naturally a couple of differences: you get a larger screen size as you go up in models, you get higher resolution cameras, and a slightly beefier processor in the Galaxy A73 5G.
Here is the three how they compare:
