Flagship features are trickling down to more affordable devices at a faster rate than ever. High refresh rate displays are the latest trendy bit of tech, and we're now starting to see them pop up in cheaper phones.
We first saw high refresh rate displays on the Pixel 4 locally, followed by devices like the Galaxy S20 family and the Huawei P40 Pro. Of course, these devices all cost over $1,000.
The Realme 6, which goes on sale locally on April 23, will go for just $469. That makes it the cheapest phone with a 90Hz screen you buy, by a decent margin.
For those not familiar with high refresh rate displays, they essentially make all motion on a phone look smoother - whether you're scrolling through apps or playing a game. A conventional smartphone has a 60Hz refresh rate, for comparison.
The Realme 6 also features pretty speedy charging tech. 30 minutes will take you from flat to an almost nice 68%, or you can refill the phone completely in an hour.
Other key specifications for the Realme 6 include a 6.5-inch 1080p+ display, a MediaTek Helio G90T processor, 128GB of expandable storage, 8GB of RAM, and a 4,300mAh battery. It has four rear-facing cameras, made up of a 64MP primary lens, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, a 2MP macro lens, and a 2MP depth lens. There's also a 16MP front-facing camera. The Australian variant of the Realme 6 is NFC ready.
As with other Realme devices, the Realme 6 is only available online. You can get it direct from the Realme online store, or through JB Hi-Fi, Kogan, Bing-Lee, Catch, Mobileciti, Amazon, and eBay.

In addition, Realme is launching its wire-free earbuds and a fitness tracker. Dubbed the Buds Air, the awfully familiar headphones will set you back just $149.
The Buds Air only offer three hours of music playback per charge, however, which pales in comparison to wire-free headphones like the AirPods Pro, Powerbeats Pro, and Galaxy Buds+, which all offer at least four-and-a-half hours per charge. With the included charging case, you'll get a total of 17 hours of playback before you need to plug in a cable. Alternatively, you can charge the Buds Air with a wireless charging pad.
You'll be able to get them in a choice of white, yellow, or black, again, on April 23.
The Realme Band is a basic $99 fitness tracker with nine sports modes, IP68 water-resistance, sleep tracking, a real time heart monitor, and alerts if you've been idle for too long. The Realme Band will also go on sale on April 23.
