Telstra-powered provider Pennytel is now selling smartphones, branching out from its previous SIM-only offerings with the newly launched Nokia 4.2 and Nokia 3.2 smartphones. But rather than selling the phones on a plan, Pennytel will make both available outright, albeit at a discount in exchange for signing up to one of their plans.
The Nokia 4.2 retails for $299, while the Nokia 3.2 goes for $249. However, Pennytel will cut 25% off the price of both devices if you buy one before August 18, bringing them down to $224.25 and $186.75 respectively. Both phones also include a bonus clear protective case.
You will need to sign up to a new Pennytel plan when you buy either device, but neither appears to be locked to the telco. Existing customers can call Pennytel if they want to grab either phone.
The pair of phones are some of the cheaper devices in the Nokia family, but also include features like facial recognition, a dedicated Google Assistant button, and a power button notification light.
Key specifications for the Nokia 4.2 include a 5.71-inch 720p+ display, a Snapdragon 439 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, a 12MP + 2MP rear-facing camera, and a 3,000mAh battery.
Key specifications for the Nokia 3.2 include a 6.2-inch 720p+ display, a Snapdragon 429 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of expandable storage, a 13MP rear-facing camera, and a 4,000mAh battery said to last up to two days.
Both run Android One based on Pie.
In addition, Pennytel is currently offering new customers 25% off plan fees for their first three months. For example, this brings the telco's 10GB plan for $28.99 down to $21.74 for the first three months. Here is Pennytel's complete plan range:
These plans are all contract-free. To get the discount, you'll need to sign up before August 18.
