To celebrate its expanding regional footprint, Optus is offering customers in over 1,400 locations three months of free service on selected plans. If you're eligible, you can pick from Optus' range of 12-month SIM-only plans or a selection of smartphones on 24-month contracts.
Optus's current SIM-only plan range is as follows:
Smartphones eligible for the offer include the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR, Huawei P30 Pro, Samsung Galaxy S10, Samsung Galaxy S10+, Samsung Galaxy S10e, Google Pixel 3, and Google Pixel 3 XL.
If you're buying a phone on a 24-month contract, you're covered by Optus' coverage commitment. This lets you cancel your service if you're experiencing connectivity or coverage issues.
Locations covered by the offer include Dubbo and Cowara in NSW, Busselton in WA, Mackay in Queensland, and Thorpdale in Victoria. To check if you're eligible for the offer, you'll need to enter your postcode on the offer page on Optus' site.
And hey, if it turns out you can get reliable Optus coverage in your area, a whole new world of telcos will open up for you. There are plenty of smaller providers - MVNOs - powered by the Optus network which often sell plans with more data at lower prices. Coverage on these smaller providers is identical to what you’d get on Optus.
Here are a few SIM-only plans from Optus MVNOs with at least 10GB:
