Optus is hoping to woo regional Australians onto its network with a discount on its family plan. New customers in eligible areas can nab Optus' family plan for $119.20 per month for the first year, representing roughly a $30 discount over the standard rate. This plan gets you 200GB divided across four SIMs, and works out to be $29.80 per month per family member.
Considering Optus typically charges $45 per month for a 20GB plan, this isn't a bad choice if you need four SIMs. Even if you don't have a family of four, you can always use the spare SIMs in a tablet or personal hotspot, for example.
After your first year is up, you'll pay the full rate of $149 per month. This works out to be $37.25 per SIM.
You can check the deal here out here.
If you sign-up for the family plan, you're able to add on new phones as well, or take up the plans as SIM-only. The plan also includes parental controls, Optus Sport, but doesn't come with international talk and text.
This offer runs until March 31, next year.
We don't have a complete list of towns and cities eligible for this deal, but as long as you live outside of a major city, you should be able to sign-up. Cairns, Shepparton, Toowoomba, Bendigo, and Orange residents are all eligible for example. Notably, the offer includes anyone, anywhere in Tasmania - even Hobart.
