It might be early days for Australian 5G networks, but OPPO’s first 5G smartphone, the Reno 5G, is an impressive step forward for the manufacturer most commonly known for its mid-tier range. To celebrate its launch, OPPO is towing a 40ft 5G-powered shipping container hotel around the country to show off the Reno and the future of 5G.
OPPO’s 5G-powered hotel is decked out with a bunch of fancy tech to help showcase the power of 5G. The heart of it is an OPPO Reno 5G (which provides the 5G connectivity), but there’s also a PC, a Steam Link for gaming, augmented reality tech, a smart mirror, a Google Home Hub, a widescreen television for streaming Netflix, and a coffee machine for guzzling caffeine…at top-speed.
The 5G hotel rolled into Byron over the weekend for Splendour in the Grass and will be making its way to the Gold Coast’s Home of the Arts (HOTA) where it will settle until the end of August. After its short Gold Coast residency, the 5G hotel will begin its migration south to Sydney, but OPPO hasn’t announced where it will stop along the way.
If you’re keen to check it out, you can rent out the modified shipping container for $150 per night if it ends up in your area. OPPO is donating all proceeds from your stay to a local charity.
Here are a few snaps from the hotel:
