OPPO today launched a new device trade-in program for Australian customers looking to pick up one of the company's many handsets. If you're considering a new OPPO smartphone, you can get credit toward it by sending OPPO your old device.
The process is fairly simple. Open up the OPPO Trade-In website, select your device, pop in its IMEI, and then answer a few questions about its condition. You'll be given a voucher discount that you can then use on the OPPO website for a new smartphone such as the recently launched Find X3 Pro. After you receive your new phone, you'll have seven days to send OPPO your old device. You'll get a prepaid shipping label to help out with your new phone.
If you don't send in your old device or you don't accurately describe the condition, OPPO will charge you the full price for your new phone using the billing method you provided at a purchase.
When it comes to trade-in value, OPPO applies an extra $205 valuation for any of its smartphones. This means trading in last year's Find X2 Pro would get you a $707 voucher. The credit you'll receive for other phones values greatly. If you're hoping to trade in a Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G, you'll only get $502. That's not great considering it's less than a year old - you could definitely get more for on eBay. On the other hand, OPPO is offering $300 for a Galaxy Note 9, which is pretty reasonable given the device's age.
OPPO will accept phones from Apple, Samsung, Google, and Huawei for trade-in, on top of its own models. Manufacturers such as Motorola, Realme, Vivo, and LG have been excluded from the program.
Today's announcement follows OPPO launching Australia's cheapest 5G smartphone, the A54 5G, earlier in the week.
