That was quick. Just three months after bringing the Reno Z to Australia, OPPO is launching the Reno 2 Z. Smartphones grow up so fast these days.
The Reno 2 Z is an ever so slightly more premium version of its predecessor, moving from a notched display to a screen with a pop-up selfie camera. While this is similar to what you'd find in the Reno 5G, it's a little bit less visually striking. Instead of a swivel shark-fin design, the selfie camera just slides up and down.
In addition, the Reno 2 Z has four rear-facing cameras, doubling what you'd find on the original Reno Z. These include a 48MP primary lens, an 8MP wide-angle lens, a 2MP monochrome lens, and a 2MP depth sensor.
Other key specifications for the Reno 2 Z include a 6.53-inch 1080p+ display, a MediaTek Helio P90 processor, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of expandable storage, an in-screen fingerprint reader, and a 4,000mAh battery. It runs OPPO's custom take on Android - ColorOS - based on Android Pie.
The Reno 2 Z will set you back $599 outright and is available in a choice of "Luminous Black" or "Sky White". You can pick it up today from JB Hi-Fi, Kogan, The Good Guys, and Officeworks. You'll also find it at Woolworths Mobile, Wireless 1, MobileCiti, Telechoice, and Catch from October 14.
While the Reno 2 Z technically succeeds the Reno Z, the original will continue to be available into 2020. At this stage, the Reno Z still retails for $499, its original launch price.
