OPPO today announced local availability for its latest affordable handset, the OPPO A72. The handset touts pretty respectable specs for its $299 price-point, including a Snapdragon 665 processor and 5,000mAh battery, but it also stands out thanks to 128GB of internal storage. Most phones at this kind of price only have 64GB.
The OPPO A72 will be available exclusively through Optus prepaid from June 9, which is partially the reason why it offers great value. Prepaid devices are typically subsided by telcos, but are locked to their network as a result.
Key specifications for the OPPO A72 include a 6.5-inch 1080p+ display, a Snapdragon 665 processor, 4GB of RAM, 128GB of expandable storage, and a 5,000mAh battery. On the back, you'll find four rear-facing cameras including a 48MP primary lens, 8MP ultra-wide lens, 2MP depth lens, and 2MP macro lens.
Since the OPPO A72 is sold as a subsidised prepaid device, you'll need to get it unlocked if you want to swap provider. Unlocking an Optus prepaid device is free if you've recharged your account to an accumulated amount of $80. Otherwise you'll pay an $80 unlocking during your first six months, or $25 thereafter.
