Motorola today announced the local availability of the Moto G 5G Plus and its second generation RAZR 5G foldable. While the RAZR 5G will set you back a hefty $2,299 outright, the Moto G 5G Plus is a far more reasonable $499, making it Australia's cheapest 5G ready smartphone.
5G connectivity at a budget price-point is the clear standout feature for the Moto G 5G Plus (trying saying that five times fast), it also touts a 90Hz high refresh rate display which still isn't overly common at this end of the market.
Key specifications include a 6.7-inch 1080p+ display, a Snapdragon 765G processor, 128GB of expandable storage, 6GB of RAM, and a 5,000mAh battery. In terms of cameras you'll find a 48MP primary lens, 5MP macro lens, 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a 2MP depth camera.
On paper, the Moto G 5G Plus punches above its price-tag based on its specs, but we'll need to wait and see what it's like in the real world before making a verdict.
The Moto G 5G Plus is available from today through Telstra and Vodafone on a plan, or outright from Motorola's online store.

The second-generation RAZR improves on Motorola's first foldable by adding 5G and better hardware, but not much has been done in terms of durability.
Despite a spec bump, the new Motorola RAZR 5G is still a distinctly midrange affair with the same Snapdragon 765G processor you'll find in the Moto G 5G Plus. On the plus side, the RAZR 5G has a larger battery, more RAM, twice the internal storage, and a higher resolution camera than its predecessor.
Key specifications for the Motorola RAZR 5G include a 6.2-inch 1080p+ internal display, a Snapdragon 765G processor, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, a 48MP primary camera, and 2,800mAh battery.
The RAZR 5G has a tighter hinge and the display is tighter, addressing complaints about the original, but a spokesperson told us no other upgrades have been made to durability. This is concerning as the first generation RAZR had a number of issues. US-based tech publication Input reported that the screen on its devices started peeling at the fold, while CNET found the phone broke after 27,000 folds. For comparison, the original Galaxy Fold lasted 120,000 in the same experiment. A Motorola spokesperson told us that it didn't see these kinds of issues in the field.
The Motorola RAZR 5G is also available from today through JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, The Good Guys, Officeworks, Mobileciti, and the Motorola online store.
