The 5G news just isn't letting up. Telstra has added a third phone to its family of 5G devices: the LG V50 ThinQ 5G (henceforth,V50). While 5G connectivity is clearly a defining feature, the LG V50 also has a rather unique secondary screen accessory. Better yet, anyone picking up the LG V50 through Telstra (at present, the exclusive retailer) gets the secondary screen as a free bonus.
Telstra's plans for the LG V50 start at $114 per month for a 3GB plan, but you'll probably want something more robust. A 20GB plan will go for $124 per month. The phone is valued at $1,729 outright, which is a slight decrease from the $1,999 figure provided when the phone was first announced. However, at this stage, there's no way to buy it outside of a plan.
The LG V50's secondary display almost makes it a poor-man's foldable smartphone. If you find the primary 6.4-inch display isn't quite enough screen for you, you can clip a secondary 6.2-inch display onto the V50 with a case-like accessory. Most of the time, this simply lets you run a different application on each screen, but it can also be used as a controller for some games. However, the Dual Screen accessory is powered by the V50's internal battery, which could definitely increase battery utilisation.

Other than 5G connectivity, the optional display, and a few other small changes, the V50 is very similar to last year's V40. That means you get the same three rear-facing camera setup including a standard 12MP lens, a 16MP wide-angle lens, and a 12MP zoom lens.
Other key specifications for the LG V50 include a 6.4-inch Quad HD+ display, a Snapdragon 855 processor, 6GB of RAM, 128GB of expandable storage, IP68 water-resistance, Quad DAC audio with a headphone jack, and a 4,000mAh battery.
The LG V50 ThinQ 5G will be available through Telstra from June 11 which is the same day you'll be able to get the OPPO Reno 5G.
It is of course worth noting that Telstra's 5G network is still in the early stages of roll-out. Limited coverage is currently available in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, on the Gold Coast, Hobart, Launceston, Melbourne, Perth, Sydney, and Toowoomba, and only in select areas.
