JB Hi-Fi is offering customers as much as a $1,000 gift card if they swap to Telstra via one of its SIM-only mobile plans. $69 per month will get you an 80GB allowance and a $300 gift card, or $99 per month will get you 200GB and a $1,000 gift card.
There is a catch, however. In exchange for the gift card, you'll need to commit to either a 12-month contract for the $69 per month plan, or a 24-month contract for the $99 plan.
JB Hi-Fi isn't a mobile provider in the traditional sense. It doesn't resell Telstra plans under its own name, it genuinely just sells Telstra plans. This means your bill will come from Telstra rather than JB Hi-Fi, and you'll also see Telstra as the provider on your phone screen. As such, these two plans also have 5G connectivity and are free from excess data fees if you go over your allowance. They don't include international calls.
This offer is only available for customers new to Telstra or those who take up an entirely new service. You can't swap to the JB plan if you're already a Telstra customer.
In both cases, the plans aren't exactly cheap, but the gift card's value definitely helps subside your monthly bill. And hey, you can always use the gift card to nab yourself a decent discount on a new outright phone - such as the newly announced Pixel 6. Here's how's JB's $69 plan compares to the competition:
