Vodafone has some decent discounts for the Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro on its 24 and 36-month contracts, though for how long is anyone's guess. If you’re in the market for a new high-end Android, you might want to take a peek.
The savings work out over the life of a phone repayment contract (don't expect an upfront discount). And the deal's prices don't include a mobile plan, so be sure to factor that added expense into your budget calculations, assuming you want to actually use your shiny new handset.
The Pixel 8 is about $350 less in total than Voda’s standard plan pricing, no matter which storage option or plan length you choose. For the 128GB model, you'll end up paying a total of $1189.07 over 36 months or $1184.21 over 24. The 256GB model will run up a tab of $1289.15 over 36 months or $1284.29 over 24.
The Pixel 8 Pro is a juicy $450 off over its contract lengths, also regardless of your choice between 128GB and 256GB storage. That said, Vodafone is no longer offering the 512GB option. The total prices for the 128GB Pixel 8 Pro are $1686.34 over 36 months and $1680.21 over 24 months. For 256GB storage, it's $1,786.42 over 36 months and $1,780.05 over 24.
Here's how Vodafone's cheapest Pixel 8 and 8 Pro plans compare to Telstra and Optus:
Those who are keen on the Pixel 8 have two colours to choose from: Hazel (more like grey, with a hint of green) and Obsidian (black). Hazel is only available with 128GB storage, but Obsidian can be grabbed with either 128GB or 256GB.
The Pixel 8 Pro is available in Bay (light blue), Porcelain (beige) and Obsidian, but Vodafone sadly isn’t offering the new Mint option.
Before you hawk your old phone on Marketplace or Gumtree, check Vodafone's trade-in calculator once you click through to the deal page for the Pixel 8 or Pixel 8 Pro. As long as your old phone is in working order, you might prefer trading it in, rather than bothering with selling it to a stranger.
