Black Friday discounts may be over, but it's time for the Christmas deals to begin. Telstra's budget brand Boost Mobile has knocked $50 off its $300 365-day long-expiry plan, allowing new customers to lock in a year of mobile service $250 upfront.
The mobile plan comes with 290GB of data, making it the equivalent of paying $20.83 per month for 24GB. That's better value than similarly priced plans on the Telstra network, including Boost's own.
For example, Boost normally charges $26 for a 28-day recharge with 7GB, and fellow Telstra MVNO Tangerine charges $25 per month for 14GB.
Here are Boost's long-expiry plans:
And here are plans with at least 14GB per month on the Telstra network for comparison:
Boost's plan becomes a 240GB plan for $300 from the second year, but it is contract-free so there's no obligation to stay. That works out to be the equivalent of paying $25 per month for 20GB, which still works out to be pretty good value compared to other Telstra-powered providers.
Boost is the only Telstra MVNO to use the full Telstra network. This means its coverage reaches 99.7% of the population, compared to 98.8% of the population on the Telstra wholesale network used by other providers. While coverage in most areas is the same, the full Telstra network delivers coverage in some very remote parts of Australia, while the Telstra wholesale network.
Boost's long-expiry deal runs until December 22.
