In addition to cutting iPhone 11 and iPhone XR prices in the wake of iPhone 12, Apple has also made the rather surprising move of discounting the iPhone SE. The iPhone SE now starts at $679 outright, down $70 from its original launch price of $749.
New pricing for iPhone SE models is as follows:
- iPhone SE 64GB: $679
- iPhone SE 128GB: $759
- iPhone SE 256GB: $929
For comparison, the iPhone XR now starts at $849, while the iPhone 11 starts at $999.
We're expecting to see the new iPhone SE pricing reflected in plans on all telcos shortly, but at time of writing, Vodafone is the only provider to have applied the discount.
Here are Vodafone's 24-month plans for the 64GB iPhone SE:
And here are Vodafone's 24-month plans for 128GB iPhone SE:
Vodafone doesn't offer the 256GB iPhone SE.
We'd say the standout Vodafone plan is the 128GB iPhone SE with 30GB of data for $66.62 per month.
The iPhone SE's new price will make it even more competitive against mid-tier Android devices, such as Google's Pixel 4a which starts at $599. While the iPhone SE is already half-a-year old, we're expecting Apple to keep supporting it with software and security updates until 2024 at a minimum. That means you'll can easily get at least four years of life out of the device, which is unheard of for a mobile device in the iPhone SE's price bracket.
