In the wake of the iPhone 12 release, both the iPhone 11 and iPhone XR are sticking around but at a lower price.
Apple’s new pricing for the devices are as follows:
- iPhone XR 64GB: $849
- iPhone XR 128GB: $929
- iPhone 11 64GB: $999
- iPhone 11 128GB: $1,079
- iPhone 11 256GB: $1,249
While these new prices aren’t reflected by Australian telcos as of yet, we can make some assumptions about plan pricing based on the updated outright costs.
Australian phone plans are made up of the price of your mobile service, plus your device repayments. Device repayments are roughly the RRP of the phone, divided by the number of months in your contract period - the longer the contract, the lower the monthly cost.
As an example, here is what we expect you’ll pay across a 24-month plan for the 64GB handsets with each major Aussie telco.
iPhone XR 64GB
- 10GB on Vodafone: $75 per month
- 40GB on Telstra: $90 per month
- 10GB on Optus: $74 per month
iPhone 11 64GB
- 10GB on Vodafone: $81 per month
- 40GB on Telstra: $96 per month
- 10GB on Optus: $80 per month
There are of course no guarantees that every telco will continue to stock the iPhone XR and the iPhone 11. Recently all major telcos dropped the XR so it is unlikely that the providers will pick it back up again at a lower price.
The iPhone 11 is still available from all major telco retailers, but the 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max stocks have dwindled. Neither Telstra, Optus or Vodafone offer the 512GB versions of the 11 Pro and Pro Max and with the handsets being discontinued, it is likely that the remaining stock with peter out.
If however you are looking for an XR, you can still pick up a preowned and refurbished handset through numobile. Currently the pricing starts from $760 for the 64GB version, but we would anticipate those prices to change all things considered.
Here are numobile’s iPhone XR plans.
