Apple announced Fitness+ - it's Apple Watch centric virtual workout service - back in September alongside the Apple Watch Series 6, and it's now finally going live on December 15.
The service is launching ten different types of guided workouts that can mostly be done without equipment (other than dumbbells) such as yoga, core, strength, and HIIT routines. If you've got equipment, there are also rowing, cycling, and treadmill options. Routines will be available in duration durations and span a number of skill levels, and Apple says new more will be added each week.
Given Fitness+ requires an Apple Watch, it integrates metrics from your wrist-worn taskmaster directly into your exercises, presumably to further guilt you into closing your rings. No, you're the one with problems. Each workout is set to music - you'll be able to pick from nine different styles - but sadly death metal is not one of them. An Apple Music subscription is not required.
You'll need at least an Apple Watch Series 3 with an iPhone 6s or later to use Fitness+. You can access the workouts themselves on your iPhone, an iPad, or an Apple TV.
Australia is one of the few markets where Fitness+ is launching this year. You'll pay $14.99 per month, or $119.99 per year. You'll get a three-month free trial with the purchase of an Apple Watch. Otherwise, anyone will be able to try Fitness+ for free for a single month. Alternatively, you can get it with Apple One.
