Android users will soon be able to transfer their WhatsApp chat history to iPhone when changing operating systems, with the top requested feature now launching in beta.
The transfer process uses the Move to iOS app for Android, which already supports migrating content like contacts, message history and your camera roll. It can however only be used when setting up a new iPhone - if you've already set up your iPhone, you won't be able to get your messages without resetting your device.
To transfer your Android WhatsApp messages, your iPhone will need to be running iOS 15.5 at a minimum. If your new iPhone isn't running iOS 15.5 out of the box, you'll need to quickly set it up and run the update.
The beta is starting to roll out now, but will take about a week to get all users who have opted into the beta program.
Moving WhatsApp data from between two different operating systems has historically been an issue for the chat platform. It only introduced the ability to move your chats from iPhone to Android last year.
