
ALDI Mobile has started offering eSIM mobile plans, meaning all major Telstra-powered providers now support the technology.
Existing ALDI Mobile customers can swap to eSIM by contacting the telco. Customers will also need to call up ALDI if they want to get a new QR code to move their eSIM from one device to another. New customers will be able to pick between an eSIM and a physical SIM when signing up for a plan.
eSIM - an electronic SIM or embedded SIM - is a rewritable SIM card that’s built into a cellular device like a smartphone or smartwatch. Unlike a physical SIM, there's no need to pop open a slot or pry off a case to put it in; an eSIM never leaves your phone. Instead, you simply download a "software SIM" from your provider of choice.

ALDI Mobile's eSIM launch comes hot off the heels of Telstra's budget brand Belong implementing the tech a few weeks ago. It's likely the launch of the eSIM-only iPhone Air played a factor in the pair of providers
23 of the 30 mobile providers in the WhistleOut database currently support eSIM. The main holdouts largely encompass brands on the Optus network, including Aussie Broadband, Coles Mobile, Dodo, iPrimus, Moose Mobile, Swoop, and OnePass Mobile.
