New Zealand is our closest neighbour, so it's no surprise many Australians have friends or family across the ditch. And keeping in touch with them has never been easier. With more providers offering calls to New Zealand as a standard inclusion, you may already be on a mobile phone plan that allows you to call for no extra cost.
But first here are three prepaid plans from Telstra, Optus and Vodafone with included international calls to New Zealand:
And for those looking outside the Big Three telcos, here are some plans with international calls to New Zealand from some smaller telcos:
If your telco offers calls to New Zealand here's how to call:
- On a mobile phone, use + to dial out of the country. Alternatively, you can enter Australia's exit code which is 0011. You'll also use the exit code on a landline.
- Add the area code (drop the zero at the start) and then enter the telephone number you're trying to call.
For example, if you're trying to call 09 123 4567, you would either type:
+64 9 123 4567 or 0011 649 123 4567
