iPhone 11 vs. iPhone 14: Price

If you're reading this, you're probably thinking about upgrading your iPhone 11, rather than tossing up between one and an iPhone 14. Hopefully, that's the case because, because Apple has discontinued the iPhone 11, so it will be increasingly hard to find unless you go for a refurb.

If you're looking at buying an iPhone 14, here's what you'll pay outright for each model:

Going for a larger storage model will naturally make the device more expensive. Here are the complete options for the standard iPhone 14:

  • iPhone 14 (128GB): $1,399
  • iPhone 14 (256GB): $1,579
  • iPhone 14 (512GB): $1,899

iPhone 11 vs. iPhone 14: Camera

Both the iPhone 11 and iPhone 14 have two 12MP cameras on the back - a primary, and an ultra-wide. As the newer phone, the iPhone 14 will naturally take better photos. While we'll need some proper hands-on time with the iPhone 14 to know exactly how much better, but last year's iPhone 13 naturally outperformed the iPhone 11 in camera performance - especially in more challenging situations, like low light environments. Apple says the iPhone 14 handles these even better. The iPhone 14 also benefits from a new selfie camera that features autofocus for the first time. This should help get sharper shots in low light, and capture group shots better.

iPhone 11 vs. iPhone 14: Connectivity

The iPhone 11 series were the last mainline iPhones to not feature 5G connectivity. The iPhone 11 only has good old 4G. On the other hand, the iPhone 14 benefits from 5G too.

iPhone 11 vs. iPhone 14: Design

An iPhone may be an iPhone, but the iPhone 11 and iPhone 14 have a slightly different vibe. Whereas the iPhone 11 has a pillowy sort of look to it, the iPhone 14 has a more angular squared-off design.

The iPhone 14 also has better resistance, with the handset rated to six metres for up to 30 minutes, as opposed to the two metres for 30 minutes on the iPhone 11.

You can use MagSafe accessories with the iPhone 14, while you can't with the iPhone 11.

iPhone 11 vs. iPhone 14: Display

The iPhone 11 and iPhone 14 both have a 6.1-inch display, but the iPhone 14 represents a big step up. It runs at a higher resolution, so everything will look that little bit sharper. It also uses an OLED panel rather than LCD, which means you'll get better contrast and deeper blacks.

The iPhone 14 also benefits from Apple's Ceramic Shield glass on the front, which Apple says makes it four times more drop-resistant than a non-Ceramic Shield iPhone, like the iPhone 11.

iPhone 11 vs. iPhone 14: Performance

Powered by an A15 processor, the iPhone 14 will naturally be faster than the iPhone 11. The iPhone 11 is powered by an A13 processor, which is two generations older than the chipset in the iPhone 14. While it's hard to fault the day-to-day experience of an older iPhone, you should still see faster performance on the iPhone 14 when it comes to more demanding apps like games and creative tools.

iPhone 11 vs. iPhone 14: Battery

While we haven't tested the iPhone 14 battery yet, it should last longer than the iPhone 11. Apple rates the iPhone 14 for 20 hours of video playback and the iPhone 11 for 17 hours. The iPhone 14 battery is also a step up from the iPhone 13 battery, which we found lasted for between five and six hours of screen time per charge. In real-world terms, that's a full day with a comfortable buffer.

The improvement in battery life could be even more significant if your iPhone 11 is getting on. Batteries degrade over time, so if you've had yours since launch, there's a good chance it's lost a chunk of its capacity.
