Sony’s new flagship device has a lot to live up to, with the company proclaiming it to be the next step in innovation, comparable to its iconic Walkman brand. Sony are talking a big game in marketing the Xperia Z, and anything less than first-class performance and features are going to be seen as falling short.
Vodafone launched it's 4G network across capital cities and a few major regional hubs last week, and invited WhistleOut to trial the new network. As much as we appreciate the opportunity, running speed tests on a single device in the city we operate in isn't the best way to see how well the network is performing. Luckily, plenty of Australians were ready to help.
There's a question everyone has been asking for the past two years, and the Q10 appears to be the answer. Is BlackBerry back? With the famous hardware keyboard on the outside and a snazzy new touch-based system on the inside, it certainly seems so. It certainly looks the part. The Q10 is 100-percent a BlackBerry phone, the sort of handset you can easily recognise from across the room. At that distance, you'd be forgiven for mistaking the Q10 for a late-model Bold handset -- the Bold 9900 especially -- but on closer inspection there are quite a few nice differences to consider.
Huawei has unveiled the world’s slimmest smartphone in London – the Huawei Ascend P6 – measuring in with an impressive profile of just 6.18mm. Uber is planning to 'shake up the taxi industry' by launching its own taxi booking service, in what it promises will 'make the worst aspects of catching a taxi awesome'. You may already be familiar with Uber, the luxury hire car app that launched in Sydney in November last year. The service allows users to book a classy private car and travel in style, instead of rolling the dice and hoping to get a taxi driver who knows where they're going and doesn't listen to talkback radio .
Vodafone Australia today announced that 4G services have been activated in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane, Adelaide, Newcastle and Wollongong, with plans to triple its 4G footprint by the end of the year. The fast mobile broadband service is available now to existing Vodafone customers with compatible mobile devices, with plans for new customers to launch next month.
TPG has removed all but one of its sim-only mobile plans, leaving its $17.99 option as a one-size-fits-all for mobile customers. The Aussie ISP previously had four options available, including a cheap $9.99 option and a $45 plan which included 5GB data and $3000 worth of calls.
Two years ago, when you bought your last phone, there's a good chance you thought about buying the Samsung Galalxy S II before spending your money on an iPhone. This may not be the case again this year. The South Korean manufacturing giant has been through an immense brand evolution in this short time, so much so that the Galaxy S4 is probably at the top of your new phone shopping list.
