TPG has removed all but one of its sim-only mobile plans, leaving its $17.99 option as a one-size-fits-all for mobile customers.
The Aussie ISP previously had four options available, including a cheap $9.99 option and a $45 plan which included 5GB data and $3000 worth of calls.
The $17.99 option, which used to be called the 'Super Value Medium Plan', includes 1.5GB data and $550 for calls and text. These plan inclusions have not changed with the removal of the other plan options.
TPG would not comment on why it has simplified its mobile offerings. It is not the first Aussie telco to move in this direction, though. Telstra and Virgin Mobile have pared back plans to a four or five core plan options, and MVNO competitors like Woolworth's Mobile and Amaysim operate with three or fewer plans in total.
Still, cutting out the top-end of the TPG mobile plan options could also be the company's first step towards exiting the MVNO telco market in Australia. It could also be preparations for an overhauled approach to mobile for the ISP. Only time will tell.
