Select Optus customers have been testing its 5G home broadband for a couple of months now, but actually signing up for service in its early stages wasn't easy. Thankfully, it's getting a little easier: Optus stores in Bonnyrigg and Liverpool are now set up to sell 5G home wireless kits.
If you head into one of those two stores, Optus will check to see if your address is in a 5G service area. If it is, you're then able to sign-up and Optus will mail out the modem. While you can't walk out with a modem in hand, both stores have a demo unit you can check out. Bonnyrigg and Liverpool were chosen due to the availability of Optus 5G in those areas.
Optus' 5G home wireless broadband service costs $70 per month and comes with unlimited data. The plan has a network satisfaction guarantee, which will let you cancel the service if you're not getting speeds of at least 50Mbps.
If you're in a Telstra 5G coverage area and want 5G mobile broadband, you can check out the HTC 5G Hub instead. Telstra, however, does not offer any unlimited 5G plans, with allowances maxing out at 100GB for $116 per month.
