Amazon Prime Video Bundling

Amazon Prime Video subscribers in the US were recently treated to a unique money-saving offer - for just $30 USD per month, they can bundle five different streaming platforms within the one app, giving users a healthy, ongoing 39% discount.

The Prime Video app isn't just a standalone subscription service; it's an aggregator of various streaming services - some big (HBO Max, Paramount+), some small (Shudder, AMC+). In a bid to keep susbcribers within the Prime Video app for longer, the US streaming/shopping giant is offering subscribers the opportunity to bundle a stack of streaming services together. At launch, the bundle includes AMC+, Britbox, MGM+, PBS Masterpiece, and STARZ. That's $30 USD per month for five streaming services that would normally cost upwards of $40 USD per month. In Australia, that would be like saving roughly $15 per month (or $180 per year).

For context, here's how much an Australian stand-alone Prime Video subscription will set you back:

Is Prime Video bundling coming to Australia?

At the time of writing, it's too early to tell whether Amazon Prime Video will introduce bundling in Australia - especially considering many of the services involved with the US bundle don't have a presence in Australia.  Often when a rollout like a price-hike or the exclusive acquisition of a specific franchise shifts in one country, it does tend to have a knock-on effect and reach us here in the Land Down Under... eventually. It's not likely we'll see major streaming services that are already flourishing - like HBO Max, Disney Plus or Netflix - involved in a streaming bundle here in Australia, but a homegrown combo like Stan, Binge and Kayo could work in everyone's favour.

It's entirely possible we'll see a similar bundle option become available in Prime Video Australia. But at the time of writing, the Prime Video channels on offer are more US or Euro-centric:

  • AcornTV
  • AMC+
  • Apple TV
  • beIN Sports
  • BritBox
  • Chaupal
  • Crunchyroll
  • Curiosity Stream
  • Docplay
  • Gaia
  • The Great Courses Signature Collection
  • Hayu
  • HBO Max
  • HIDIVE
  • iwonder
  • Lionsgate+
  • Love Nature
  • MGM+
  • MUBI
  • NFL Gamepass
  • OUTtv
  • Paramount Plus
  • Playkids Learning
  • Rialto
  • Shudder
  • Simply South
  • Sony Pictures Core
  • Stingray
