June 2018: The Virgin Mobile brand is being phased out and plans are no longer available to purchase. The information on this page refers to plan details before this announcement.
There are lots of great alternatives to choose from. Start by selecting one of the options below:
Christmas might be done and dusted, but the deals still keep on coming. Virgin Mobile has cut 20% off the monthly fee for 12-month SIM-only plans, while padding out its top end plans with massive amounts of bonus data. This means you can get 20GB for $32 per month, 28GB for $40 per month, or 45GB for $48 per month if you sign up before the end of January.
All Virgin SIM-only plans include unlimited talk and text, unlimited music streaming through Spotify, Google Play Music, and iHeartRadio, and credit for international talk and text.
While only the three priciest SIM-only plans get bonus data, every SIM-only plan Virgin offers on a 12-month contract has had its price cut. The following plans are part of the promotion.
If you use the promo code "WHISTLEOUT" when signing up for your plan, you'll score yourself an extra 500MB per month. You're welcome.
Virgin's three high-end plans are all currently best in class for the amount of data they offer. Think Mobile - powered by Vodafone's 4G network - could however be worth considering if you'd prefer a plan with no lock-in contract. You don't quite get the same data-for-dollar value, but you can leave whenever you want.
After Virgin's promo period is over, there's a good chance Optus will go back to being top dog for SIM-only plans, thanks to the somewhat ludicrous 50GB for $60 plan it introduced at the start of December. Of course, Virgin's promo still runs for a month, and that's a long time in the world of telco.
