Telstra is taking $10 off its monthly, top-end plan fees for twelve months, putting Australia’s largest network in the grasp of more Australians.
Customers who take out a plan before March 30th can save up to $120 over the next year on Medium, Large and Extra Large phone plans. With some of the price drops putting these deals on par with Vodafone and Optus.
Bringing Telstra’s Medium plan down to $50 per month, the provider is matching Vodafone’s $50 Red Plus SIM Only plan, and Optus’ Medium $49 plan - giving unlimited text, calls, and 60GB included data per month.
The Large and Extra Large plans come to $70 and $90 respectively, with a whopping 80GB and 150GB of included data.
Large and Extra Large plans will still be around $10 more expensive than competitors, but for an extra 1 million square kilometers of mobile network than other providers, that $10 goes pretty far. That’s just $1 extra, per 10 million hectares of trouble-free mobile coverage.
Moreover, even if you do stream the 240 hours of Netflix needed to go through the allotted 60GB, you will still be able to browse online cost-free, with Telstra’s unlimited data at max speeds of 1.5Mbps.
On top of the discounted rates, every service comes with data-free sports streaming, data-free music streaming through Apple Music, free Telstra Air Wi-Fi, and free access to the provider’s 5G network. After June 30, Medium plan customers will have the option to upgrade to Telstra’s 5G network for $15 more per month, while Large and Extra Large users will continue to enjoy the new connectivity as part of their ongoing service.
Discounted plans are available for new, and existing Telstra customers, who take out a new service while the offer is available. The month-to-month plans can be SIM only, or be coupled with a new mobile handset through the provider.
Where Vodafone’s low SIM-only plan prices are based on a 12-month contract, all participating Telstra plans are sold on a month-to-month basis - meaning that customers can opt out at any time if the network isn’t living up to expectations, or another offer is more enticing.
If you do decide to leave, there are no hoops to jump through. Simply pay out any remaining device costs, add-ons or accessories.
