Samsung has begun pre-orders for its upcoming Galaxy Watch smartwatch ahead of an October 4 release date. If you're keen to get your hands on Samsung's latest wearable, you can place an order directly through Samsung, JB Hi-Fi, or Harvey Norman right now.
You'll probably want to pick JB Hi-Fi or Harvey Norman though, as both are offering early adopters a $50 gift card while Samsung isn't running any promotions.
Galaxy Watch pricing is as follows:
- Galaxy Watch 42mm 4G: $599
- Galaxy Watch 46mm 4G: $649
- Galaxy Watch 42mm Bluetooth: $499
- Galaxy Watch 46mm Bluetooth: $549
4G mdoels will work with Telstra at launch, and Vodafone by the end of the year.
4G connectivity is the big new feature in this year's Samsung wearable, which succeeds the Gear S3. Much like the Apple Watch Series 3 and Series 4, this is achieved using an eSIM - a software SIM embedded within the device. The inclusion means the Galaxy Watch will stay connected and continue to receive notifications and play tunes, ever when you're away from your smartphone.
Telstra's eSIM product - One Number - is billed at $5 per month, and you'll need to have a Telstra postpaid plan to use it.
Update (October 4, 2018): This article previously stated that the the 4G Galaxy Watch would only work on Telstra. Vodafone has now announced that it will be ranging Galaxy Watch from today and will have eSIM plans available before Christmas.
