Apple and Nike's collaborative take on the Apple Watch will go on sale this Friday starting at $529. Dubbed the Apple Watch Nike+, the new wearable is ostensibly an Apple Watch Series 2 that's a little more tailored towards runners.
The biggest differences between the Series 2 and Nike+ models are a couple of exclusive Nike-branded watch faces, and a new style of band. The Nike bands are made from perforated flureoelastomer, which reduces weight and improves breathability. The Apple Watch Nike+ also ships with the Nike+ Run Club app preinstalled. This is used for tracking exercise, sharing activity with friends, and getting reminders to get up and go for a run.
Other key features are identical to those found in the Apple Watch Series 2. These include swim-proofing (water-resistance to 50m), a faster processor, a brighter screen for improved outdoor visibility, and a revamped operating system.
The 38mm Apple Watch Nike+ will sell for $529, while the 42mm model will go for $579.
The Apple Watch Nike+ is available in four colours: space grey aluminium with a black and volt band, space grey aluminium with a black and grey band, silver aluminium with silver and white band, and silver aluminium with a silver and volt band.
The Nike partnership represents Apple's second major collaboration in the world of wearables. Following the launch of the initial Apple Watch - now retroactively referred to as Series 0 - it partnered with luxury fashion brand Hermes to create a number of unique leather watch bands.
