Virgin Mobile adds a new $40 SIM plan this week, and has made sure to catch the eye of smartphone owners with a love of data heavy apps.
The new plan comes with 3GB of data each month, and for a limited time, a bonus 1GB of data for anyone signing up online in August. With a total of 4GB of data per month, Virgin certainly has the growing MVNO suppliers squarely in its sight.
With the extra 1GB, Virgin now comes in $5 per month cheaper than many of its smaller competitors. Amaysim and Vaya both have strong plans at the $45 price mark, while Yatango and Hello Mobile offer the same 4GB at $40.
While the basic call, SMS and data inclusions are the same in plans from the MVNO suppliers listed above, Virgin does have an advantage in the extra included features across its range. All Virgin SIM Only plans rollover unused data into the following month, and plans from $40 and up include $300 worth of international calls.
Importantly, the new Virgin plan is cheaper and more generous than similar plans from Optus and Vodafone, both offering similar value in plans costing $45 and $50 respectively.
If you want to get your hands on the $40 SIM Only plan with the extra 1GB of data you need to sign up online before 23 August 2015.
