Wait! Before you splash out on a new iPhone 6s, there is a new kid in town and he deserves a look in.
The new Motorola Moto X Style and Moto X Play handsets land in Vodafone stores tomorrow and some of the plan pricing has now been revealed. The flagship Moto X will cost $3 per month on either $80 or $100 Red Plans, while the cheaper Moto X Play will be available for $5 on $40 plans, and $3 the $60 Red Plan.
Both phones offer the same clean Android Lollipop experience in handsets with large edge-to-edge screens, but the Style takes the spotlight with a super resolution QHD screen (1440 x 2560 pixels). The Style also features a more powerful processor and more RAM, though the Play is the battery king with an enormous 3630 mAh battery.
But as you’ll note from the pricing info above, Vodafone will have its work cut out persuading phone shoppers to look away from the new iPhones and to consider a new Moto X Style when the price for both phones will be roughly the same. Motorola customers can save $6 per month on the $80 Red Plan if they choose the Moto, but on the $100 plan the Style costs the same as an iPhone 6s 16GB.
It will be the phone of choice for anyone looking for something unique to show off to friends, though. While over 30% of Australians have very similar looking iPhones in their pockets, Moto X Style customers will be some of the only people in the world to have an extremely stylish bamboo-backed phone. This, matched with its powerful performance, should be enough to at least wander over to the Style in Vodafone stores and take a look.
