Moose Mobile - a relative newcomer in Australia's telco scene - is now offering the country's cheapest mobile plan: an $8 per month plan with no lock-in contracts. Much like the price, the plan's inclusions are on the smaller side, with your $8 getting you unlimited text, 200 minutes of calls, and 500MB of data.
While Moose Mobile may currently be undercutting the competition in terms of price, it's not the only player fighting out for the low-end. Amaysim now does unlimited talk and text and 1GB of data for $10, but it's offered on a 28-day recharge, which means you'll need to renew 13 times per year.
In terms of data-for-dollar, the above two options are better value than Moose Mobile's new $8 offer, but if you want to make every dollar count and don't need much data, Moose could be an excellent choice.
It's also worth noting that Moose Mobile charges excess data at 1.5c per MB (billed per kilobyte), which equates to $15 per GB. This is one of the higher excess data charges in the industry (most telcos charge $10 per GB) so if you want to ensure you're saving money, you should be reasonably sure that 500MB is enough.
