There’s now another Moto on the market for you to say 'hello' to: introducing the Moto Z2 Play.
Moto is promising its next-gen modular smartphone will be ‘thinner, lighter and faster’ than last year’s Moto Z and Moto Z Play. Along with an updated Play experience, Moto is also launching four new Moto Mods: designed to boost battery life, and transform your device from mere smartphone to portable sound system, or handheld game console.
The Moto Z2 Play
The Moto Z2 Play features a 5.5-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display, 32GB of storage (with 64GB available in some markets), a Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 Processor, and 3GB of RAM. You’ll get Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box, plus a 3000mAh battery with Quick Charge support – offering eight hours of battery life in just a 15-minute charge.
Up front, there’s a fingerprint sensor which also supports one-gesture swiping and multi-tasking, plus simple one-touch navigation. You can now use Moto Voice to receive ‘instant queries’ such as calendar and weather updates, or to launch apps hands-free, and the new Night Display mode adjusts your screen after dark, cutting down on sleep-disrupting blue tones.
If top-notch selfies are a priority, the 5-megapixel front camera offers a dual colour corrected flash, and you’ll get a 12-megapixel rear shooter with laser and dual autofocus for perfect low-light snaps. You’re also still be able to attach the Hasselblad True Zoom Camera to your Z2 Play for even better shots, which brings us to Moto’s next announcement: more Mods.

Moto Mods
Like the Moto Z and Moto Z Play, the Z2 Play is a modular smartphone, meaning you can snap-on extra accessories to enhance your device’s capabilities. Joining the Hasselblad camera, plus the Instashare Projector and last year’s JBL Soundboost speaker, are four all-new Moto Mods.
Moto Gamepad
Clip on the Gamepad and turn your Moto Z2 into a take-anywhere gaming machine, with dual control sticks, four action buttons, and a built-in 1035mAh battery.

JBL Soundboost 2
This year’s update to the JBL Soundboost speaker gives you ten hours of play time on a single charge, features water-repellent coating, and can pair with the JBL Soundboost 2 app for easy sound adjustment.

Moto TurboPower Pack
The snap-on TurboPower Pack will give you double the battery life when you’re away from your charger, and offers ultra-fast recharges on the go: up to 50% of battery capacity in as little as 20 minutes.

Moto Style Shell
Another charging add-on, the Style Shell combines design with fast wireless Qi charging, in a variety of finishes.

There’s no word on when the Moto Z2 Play and new Moto Mods will hit Australian shores, but the product range will be available in the US sometime mid-year with a $499 USD price tag.
