LG's latest flagship smartphone - the V40 ThinQ (henceforth V40) is now available in Australia, and it sure has a lot of cameras. Five to be precise; three on the back, and two on the front.
If you're after this ocular overload of a device, the LG V40 will set you back $1,299 outright and you'll find it at JB Hi-Fi and Mobileciti. JB Hi-Fi has the phone in "Moroccan Blue", while Mobileciti has it in "Platinum Gray" and "Carmin Red".
So why do you need five cameras? Well, when it comes to three on the back, it's all about versatility. You get a standard 12MP lens, a 16MP wide-angle angle lens, and a 12MP zoom lens. Essentially, you can get three different shots standing in the same spot.
LG's also added some nifty software features to help you work out which lens to use. The first is called triple preview, which will show a live preview from all three cameras so you don't just have to switch between them to checkout your shot. The second is triple shot, which will fire off all three lenses, one after another.
In terms of front-facing cameras, the V40 has a standard 8MP lens, and a 5MP wide-angle lens for when you need to fit more people into your selfies.
Other key specifications for the LG V40 include a 6.4-inch notched Quad HD+ display, a Snapdragon 845 display, 6GB of RAM, 64GB of expandable storage, IP68 water-resistance, Quad DAC audio with a headphone jack, and a 3,300mAh battery. The V40 ships with Oreo, but it's expected to get an update to Pie in the second quarter of the year.
LG V40 variants sold in Australia are dual SIM enabled.
