LG took the wraps off its latest flagship smartphone at the start of May, and there's good news for Australian fans: it's here.
The recently announced LG G7 ThinQ (henceforth the LG G7) is now on sale locally for $1,099. You'll be able grab it form JB Hi-Fi and Mobileciti, and if you pick the phone up before June 30, you'll get a bonus Google Assistant-powered LQ WK7 ThinQ Speaker valued at $299.
In terms of the phone itself, the LG G7 is a fairly standard 2018 flagship. It's got a glass front and back, an extra-tall display, the latest Qualcomm processor, water-resistance, and unsurprisingly, a notch. There's two rear-facing 16MP cameras on the back: the first is a wide angle lens with a 107-degree field of view and a f/1.9 aperture, and the second is a standard lens with a wider aperture of f/1.7. Oh, and it still has a headphone jack.

The "ThinQ" awkwardly tacked onto the end of the LG G7's name refers to the phone's "AI" features. Specifically, to a dedicated button for calling up Google Assistant, to a camera which 19 different shooting modes for object recognition. For example, the "AI-powered" camera knows if you're shooting a person, an animal, a flower, or food and will adjust capture settings to theoretically get you a better photo. This is similar functionality to what Huawei introduced with the Mate 10.
Key specifications for the LG G7 include a 6.1-inch QHD+ display, a Snapdragon 845 processor, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of expandable storage, the aforementioned dual rear-facing camera configuration, IP68 water-resistance and a 3,000mAh battery.
Other reasonably unique functionality includes a super bright 1,000 nit display, a far field microphone with a 5m range, and "Boombox" speakers that sound better than you'd expect a smartphone to.
You'll be able to get the phone in a choice of black or "platinum gray", through JB Hi-Fi, or black, red, and blue through Mobileciti.
