Kogan Mobile will significantly increase its prices from August 1, bringing it in line with many of the other MVNO offerings in Australia.
From the beginning of next month, the 30-day price will increase from $29 to $39, the 90-day price from $79 to $99 and the 365-day plan to $329 -- up from $299. The plan inclusions remain the same, with unlimited calls and text, including MMS and calls to 13/1300 and 18/1800 numbers.
Customers will also still get 6GB of data each month, subject to the telco's 400MB per day usage cap.
Kogan Mobile hit the Australian mobile landscape with a flourish when it launched a year ago, with a price and value unmatched by all other telcos. Even budget-price supermarket chain Aldi couldn't match the $29 offer when it launched several months later.
The shift in pricing gives Aldi a $4 price advantage, though Kogan still offers 1GB more data each month.
One factor missing from Kogan's offering is 4G network access, something that competitors Vaya and Live Connected both have on the Optus network. Kogan data is covered by Telstra's 3G network with download speeds up to only 7.2Mbps.
