Online electronics store Kogan today launch a new low-cost smartphone with 4G radios and running the Android OS.
The new Agora 6 will sell for $179 through Kogan. Pre-orders are open now, with plans to ship the first stock on April 12.
The phone comes with a number of solid features for the price, including Dual-SIM card slots, a 5-inch screen and a decent-size 2050mAh battery.
There is 16GB of internal storage (shared with the operating system) and a microSD card for cards up to 32GB. the phone will run on the previous version of Google’s Android, version 5.1, known as Lollipop.
Worth a look?
As you can tell from the name, this isn’t the first Kogan branded Agora smartphone. Each new release in this line gets a little better, while the price remains similarly low.
It is hard to fault a phone at this price, especially one with a 5-inch screen, but it has also been a while since we were surprised by a cheap Android smartphone. A quick scan online (even on Kogan’s own site) reveals numerous phones at this price, or cheaper.
The Agora 6 has a competitive list of features, though there is nothing about it which really stands out. The 5-inch screen is nice, and the battery seems a decent size, but it would be worth taking a look at the similarly priced Samsung and LGs before diving in.
And if you do buy a low-cost Agora, don't forget you're going to need a SIM card to put inside it (or two).
