Apple is introducing a new "Transfer to Android" feature as part of the company’s latest software update for the iPhone.
Included as part of iOS 26.3, Transfer to Android promises to make it easier to jump from one smartphone ecosystem to another by simplifying the process.
Accessed via the Settings app on the iPhone, this feature lets users easily transfer photos, messages, contacts and even apps.
Although this is a significant step up over the more manual process faced by those looking to migrate from an Apple smartphone to an Android-based one in the past, there are a few omissions. For instance, health data, Bluetooth devices and a number of other “protected items” cannot be transferred across ecosystems.
The rollout of Transfer to Android comes just months after Google moved its own enhanced ecosystem-oriented data transfer tool into beta with the latest version of Android Canary. Both are part of a larger collaboration between Apple and Google to make switching between the two biggest mobile operating systems in the world a little bit less painful.
iOS 26.3 is available to download now for the iPhone 11 series onward.
