The Nova Plus, Huawei's latest midrange smartphone, is now available from Australian retailers for a competitive asking price of $549. Other than a comparatively affordable price tag, Huawei is touting the Nova Plus' battery life as a key point of difference; with "common usage", Huawei says you can expect 2.2 days of battery life per charge.
In terms of design, the Nova Plus offers a "2.5D" glass display and metal unibody. In some ways, it's almost reminiscent of Samsung's Galaxy S7. There are obviously a few differences; namely, the S7 is almost all glass, while the Nova Plus is glass and metal, and the Nova Plus' fingerprint reader is on the back of the phone.
Other key specifications include a 5.5-inch 1080p display, an eight-core Snapdragon 625 processor, a 16MP rear-facing camera with optical image stabilisation, a rear-facing fingerprint reader, 32GB of expandable storage, dual SIM, 3GB of RAM, and a 3,340mAh battery. The Nova Plus runs Android Marshmallow, with Huawei's heavily customised "EMUI" overlay.
The Huawei Nova Plus should be showing up in Harvey Norman and Officeworks stores around Australia in the coming days.
