Just a week after Samsung unveiled its first smartphone with a camera cut-out display, Huawei has followed suit by announcing the Nova 4. Much like Samsung's Galaxy A8s, the Nova 4 has a selfie camera built directly into the top left corner of its display, rather than embedded in a notch.
While Huawei's Nova series devices have typically been a midrange affair, the Nova 4 could buck this trend. For one, it has a three rear-facing camera setup made up of a 48MP lens, a 16MP lens, and a 2MP lens. In addition, the Nova 4 is powered by the same flagship Kirin 970 processor found in the Huawei P20 Pro. This chipset is almost 10 months old now, but it's still an excellent performer.
Other key specifications for the Nova 4 include a 6.4-inch 1080p display, 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, and a 3,750mAh battery.
Based on international pricing, we'd expect to Huawei Nova 4 to cost around $700 if it launches here. At this stage, Huawei has yet to confirm if we'll see it locally. Huawei has brought select Nova devices to Australia in the past, so there's always a chance the Nova 4 will end up on Aussie shelves sometime next year.
