Huawei will have new luxury smartwatch models in Australia this month, with plans to have the watches for sale first in Myer stores from April 20.
The Elegant and Jewel model watches are dubbed as the ‘first smartwatches designed specifically for women’. Physically the two watch models are similar, with circular gold bodies, but the Jewel version comes with a ring of Swarovski crystals around the face.
Tech-wise, both watches has a 1.4-inch circular AMOLED touchscreen display and a button on the side styled like a classic watch crown.
Under the hood the watches run Google’s Android Wear software, capable of connecting to both Android and iPhone handsets, though with only limited functionality for Apple owners.
New watches ship with a leather strap, but these are removable and can be replaced with any standard watch band. This is good news for the fitness minded who would like to use the watch’s heart monitor and movement trackers, but don’t want to exercise with a leather band on their wrists.
Both the Elegant and Jewel variants will sell for $699, available through Myer, Harvey Norman and Huawei shopping centre kiosks.
