When was the new Galaxy S26 announced?

The announcement of the new Galaxy S26 range happened for Australians in the early hours of Thursday, February 26 2026.

Pre-orders are now open for the Samsung Galaxy S26, S26 Plus and S26 Ultra, but they won't be available in stores until March 11.

If you don't want to commit to a 12-, 24- or 36-month plan with one of the telcos then you can choose to pre-order a new Galaxy S26 outright. This includes ordering from Samsung directly, Amazon, and tech retailers like JB Hi-Fi and the Good Guys.

When will I get my Galaxy S26?

Pre-orders for the Galaxy S26 are open from now with a March 11 release day.

If you're living in a major metro area there's every chance you can expect to receive your new Samsung Galaxy device on release day or within a few days of release. The further away you live from a metro area the longer it might take to arrive.

Samsung says devices will ship from 6 March.

How much is the new Galaxy S26?

Samsung's new devices follow the well-established pattern of a standard
Galaxy S26, medium-sized Galaxy S26 Plus and the larger Galaxy S26 Ultra.

Prices for each Galaxy S26 phone go up incrementally with storage capacity. Prices start from $1,549 and go all the way up to $2,949.

What's the cheapest way to get a Galaxy S26?

The cheapest way to get your hands on a new Galaxy S26 device is to pay upfront. The only downside to that is it's a lot of money to pay immediately.

But then you can pair it with a cheap SIM-only plan from a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) like Boost Mobile, Belong, amaysim, TPG, or felix.

If you choose to purchase your device on a plan you can effectively "smooth out the cost" over a number of months. Each telco has repayment plans over 12, 24 or 36 months.

While a 12-month repayment period is the most expensive per-month option, it also means you can switch to a cheaper mobile plan provider sooner. The 36-month option results in the smallest monthly bill but means you'll be "locked in" with that provider for longer.
