Apple today announced a baby brother for the iPhone family, lifting the curtain on the new iPhone SE and confirming that it will be available in Australian stores on March 31.
The new tiny iPhone is basically a replica of the older iPhone 5, a blast from the past for a phone first released back in 2012. The iPhone SE has the same 4-inch display as the original iPhone 5, but comes with newer internal components and a range of colours, including Rose Gold.
Under the hood, the iPhone SE has an Apple A9 processor, the same computer in the newish iPhone 6s and 6s Plus. There is a 12-megapixel camera on the rear of the phone.
But if you thought that a smaller iPhone with an old design would be wallet-friendly alternative, you might be surprised. There will be 2 storage variants to choose from with a 16GB model to sell for RRP $649 and the 64GB model to cost $829.
For comparison, the iPhone 6s 16GB costs $1,079. An older iPhone 6 16GB sells for $929.
