ANZ today announced plans integrate voice biometrics into its mobile banking apps on iOS and Android, to further improve security and allow higher value transactions. At present, ANZ customers can only make transactions of $1,000 or less through the app, but from the middle of this year, you'll be able to use your voice to automatically authorise bigger payments.
"Voice biometrics is the next step in making banking more convenient for our customers while also strengthening security," said ANZ Managing Director Customer Experience and Digital Channels, Peter Dalton.
"A person’s voice has five to ten times as many security points than other methods such as fingerprints so we know this will improve security and be welcomed by our customers. The technology is now so advanced that it can tell the difference between identical twins or even a voice recording."
Select ANZ customers will be able to start using the technology from May.
