20GB for $50 per month: Amaysim brings big data to top end plans

Amaysim has increased data allowances on its high-end mobile plans just in time for Christmas, offering as much as 20GB on a single recharge.

A $40 recharge will now get you unlimited talk, text, 300 international minutes, and 15GB. A $50 recharge takes the data inclusion to 20GB. Both are sold as 28-day recharges, so you'll need to renew 13 times per year.

15GB is quickly becoming the standard inclusion for the $40 price point, with Virgin, Optus, and Vodafone all offering almost identical plans (excluding promotional deals). Amaysim's offer is available as a month-to-month plan, which the aforementioned telcos all want you to commit to a 12-month contract.

At the $50 price point, Amaysim's 20GB inclusion is one of the best around. It is however slightly undercut by Think Mobile's 20GB plan, which is available for $48 per month. Think's plan is offered on a postpaid month-to-month basis, and is delivered over the Vodafone network.

Amaysim's data-only plans have also been given an overhaul, and are now headlined by a $70 recharge with a 100GB inclusion. This makes it one of the largest data-only plans around, and unsurprisingly, is being pitched as an alternative to fixed line internet connection. OVO's $69.95 100GB recharge does however edge out Amaysim at the top end, thanks to a longer 30-day expiry.

If you're still after more data and 4G speeds, Optus will do 140GB for $70 per month, but you'll need to sign a 12-month contract.
