amaysim has dropped a snap EOFY year sale for its long-expiry prepaid plans.
It's offering 40% off the first recharge of both its 365-day prepaid mobile plans which come with unlimited data banking.
You'll need to get in quick, this sale ends June 17.
Take a look at its plans here:
amaysim plans run on the Optus network and the telco offers new customers the choice of an eSIM or a physical SIM card.
A long expiry plan can be a good way to save on your phone bill because you're essentially "bulk buying" your data upfront. The only catch is you'll need to budget that data carefully so you don't run out before the 365 days are up.
As an example, with amaysim's 200GB plan you've got around 16GB to use per month. That may not sound like enough but according to the ACCC, most Australians are actually only using around 16GB per month. Plus, amaysim's long expiry plans have data banking so any data you don't use will roll over to your next recharge.
A good way to compare is to look at value per gigabyte of data. $1 or less is typically a good deal. To work that out divide the total cost by the total data allowance. amaysim's 200GB plan works out to be $0.72 per gigabyte and its 240GB plan comes to $0.75 per gigabyte.
Let's take a look at how amaysim's deals compare to other long expiry plans.
Here are 365-day expiry plans from WhistleOut's database under $150:
In terms of other attractive deals, Kogan is offering bonus data on its plans for EOFY. Its 300GB plan works out to be even better value than amaysim at just $0.45 per gigabyte. Kogan runs on the Vodafone network.
Here's how the cheapest 365-day expiry plans over $151 compare:
amaysim has one of the stronger deals at this price point although Lebara's 260GB plan works out to a value of $0.68 per gigabyte just beating amaysim on value per gigabyte again. Like Kogan, it runs on the Vodafone network.
