Vodafone has increased the price of all of its postpaid mobile plans by $4 a month, while also increasing data allowances. The pricing changes impact all new customers, and some older customers.

A Vodafone spokesperson told WhistleOut that customers who signed up to a new Vodafone postpaid mobile plan from late December last year won't be affected by the price rise. The spokesperson said the telco started notifying impacted customers in June.

Here's how pricing has changed on Vodafone's postpaid plans:

PlanOld PricingNew Pricing
Small$49 per month with 50GB $53 per month with 60GB
Medium$59 per month with 180GB $63 per month with 200GB
Large$69 per month with 360GB $73 per month with 400GB

Vodafone says the pricing changes allow it to continue investing in its platform, security, and networks.

"While we work hard to absorb the costs of these investments, we had to make the difficult decision to adjust the prices on some of our mobile plans," said the Vodafone spokesperson.

Telstra and Optus have both also increased pricing for their postpaid mobile plans this year. Optus upped prices in late April, while Telstra's price rise kicked in at the start of this month.

These plans have smaller data allowances than Vodafone's postpaid range, but the average Australian uses less than 20GB per month. The main downside is these plans can't be paired with a new phone, like the newly announced Galaxy Z Fold 7. They also don't have perks like Vodafone's $5 roaming.
